My husband Jim and I have three children and we live in lovely Sandpoint, Idaho. On our small ranch, we raise cows and, of course, our lovely indoor pet pigs. As an animal lover I quickly fell in love with pigs and have since dedicated the last 13 years to research and learning as much I can about these Juliana and Mini Pigs.
WHY AM I SO PASSIONATE ABOUT PET PIGS?
13 years ago, for the first time in my life I had the opportunity to raise two farm pigs. I fell in love. I grew up with horses my entire life and was just amazed at how affectionate and smart the pigs were. So, I decided I had to have an indoor pet pig. I started researching and was not very impressed with the breeding practices I saw. Breeders were breeding pigs in barns and flying these baby pigs and telling us to potty train a baby pig that was born into a barn setting. So, I got my first two pet pig for $8000. I was so excited, but I received them with no instructions, not even a sample of food to feed
them. I had to cry not even knowing what to feed my new babies. It was right then and there that I decided I had to change the way these pigs were raised, and I had to dedicate my life to learning nutrition, training, and proper care for these pet pigs. When I decided to buy breeders, I said I was going to keep my breeders in my home. Everyone thought I was crazy to keep an intact male in my home, but he turned out to be even cleaner than my girl pig! 13 years later, we have come a long way with registries for Juliana pigs and more reputable breeders. I am unbelievably proud of all the progress we have made.
