Breed Information

At Mini Pocket Pigs, we believe in properly educating everyone looking to adopt one of these gorgeous babies. Here is where you can learn more about the breeds we offer.

There are two types of pigs that are bred at Mini Pocket Pigs. First, there is the Juliana (the Miniature Painted Pig), which is often spotted and offers a wonderful temperament. The Mini Pig also has a spectacular temperament, but the appearance of the pig and size make it a little more suited for an indoor lifestyle.

Juliana Pigs

The Juliana Pig is small colorful thought to have originated in Europe through selective breeding. The Juliana Pig, also known as the Miniature Painted Pig, is small, spotted, has tiny legs and feet and is conformationally sound with a thin athletic build. It should not exhibit a pronounced pot belly or sway back, and should never be pudgy, heavily wrinkled, or sluggish in appearance. Of course, temperament is of the utmost importance since the Juliana has been specifically bred to work with humans.

Mini Pigs

These pigs have no relation to the potbelly breed. They have an even temperament, friendly disposition, making them intelligent and highly trainable. The compact, sturdy size of the Mini Pig is suitable for indoor homes. It’s really the perfect size for a pet pig. Weight varies based on the physical condition of the pig, with focus on a healthy, robust, athletic build where the pig is able to move and run freely with clear vision. Due to the breed’s variety, it is one of the most varied in color and markings.
